The Oceanlinx Wave Energy Technology
[Australia] Oceanlinx Limited
The Oceanlinx wave energy technology comprises a proprietary oscillating water column (OWC) and bi-directional turbine. The technology converts the energy in waves into electricity, and/or uses that energy to desalinate sea water. The technology has received many accolades and awards, including being named in 2006 by the International Academy of Science as “ne of the Ten Most Outstanding Technologies in the World.”
Investment in wave energy and the Oceanlinx technology is most commonly via individual wave energy projects. Investors purchase equity in these projects and receive dividends from the project through the sale of electricity. However, potential equity investments in Oceanlinx are possible on a case by case basis. All new energy technologies are less competitive in their early days. Wave energy is no different. There are two main types of government policies which enable technologies such as that of Oceanlinx to reach full and mature commercial viability sooner capital grants and feed-in tariffs.
