Thermoacoustic Technology in Solar Power Generation

    [China] Lihan Technologies Co., Ltd.

Thermoacoustic technology has become to a hot and leading research in the world. It is a revolutionary, high commercial potential technology platform, which is so called “the forth generation thermo engine” in mankind history. The basic idea of a thermoacoustic engine as following: an airtight tank, filled by high pressure gas (e.g. He2, N2, etc.).Heat input via a high temperature heat exchanger. A temperature difference to an ambient heat exchanger is set up. The gas in tiny channels of a so called “regenerator”, which is located between high and ambient temperature heat exchanger, would be heated up, expand, move, contract. all of these steps resulted in a self-excitation sound pressure oscillation. Heat energy is converted to mechanical energy. This effect is called “Thermoacoustic effect” and this device is called “Thermoacoustic Engine”.

Dr.Ercang LUO, a leading scientist of the Chinese Academy of Science, has worked with his team in this area since 1998. His achievements have put himself in the frontier of the world thermoacoustics research. Dr. Luo received Hu Gangfu Experimental Physics Award 2006/2007, which is the highest award in Physics in China. To find commercial applications of this exciting technology, Lihan Tech was founded. Thermoacoustic Solar Power Generation System is the selected first commercial project.

The system is consisted of a Thermoacoustic engine with heat head, a pair of linear motor, and a solar heat collector. This technology will provide us a low cost (1/5 of PV cost) and high converting rate (1.6 times of PV) solar power utilization solution.
