Water and Thermal Energy Group
Prof. Edgar Schicker (Professor of Berlin University,
University of Applied Sciences, Germany) presided
the first half of Water and Thermal Energy Group.
Prof. Ladislaus Rybach (Managing Director of
GEOWATT AG, Zurich/Switzerland Honorary Guest
of the University of Zurich, Executive Committee
Vice Chairman of International Energy Agency
(IEA) Geothermal Implementing Agreement Switzerland)presided
the second half of Water and Thermal Energy
Group.

Prof. Tong Jiandong (Director,
UNIDO-International Center on Small Hydropower, China) spoke
on the Cost-effective Small Hydropower Electromechanical
Technology. He explained the fast development of Small Hydro
Power (SHP) in China and described the features of cost-effective
SHP EM technology and the design and manufacturing of the
EM products, as well as its application. Then he compared
the technology with its counterparts in Europe and other
region to conclude its advantages, while presented the achievements
and intellectual property right of it. Finally he introduced
the worldwide transfer and promotion of the Cost-Effective
SHP EM Technology. |

Mr. Sommer Frank IBS Sommer,
Germany gave a presentation entitled Hydrodynamic Screws-a
new type of energy generation based on one of the oldest technologies.
He introduced the design of the Hydrodynamic Screw, compared
it with traditional waterwheels and turbines in efficiency
and availability, discussed its advantages, and analyzed its
economic efficiency and profitability in application. |

Mr. Ma Fuqiu (Science and Technology Dept.,
Harbin Engineering University, China) gave a presentation
entitled Water Turbine Utilizing Tidal Current Energy. He
reviewed HEU's study of the tidal current energy utilization
and the " 70 kW Tidal current energy test power plant"
completed in 2002. He said HEU is now carrying out the demonstration
tests of the 40 kW trend power station in Zhoushan sea area
of Zhejiang province. |

Mr. Sun Ji (Ever Source Science & Technology
Development Co., Ltd., China) gave a presentation entitled
Ground Water Source Heat Pumps based on Single Well System.
He introduced the ideology of this single well pumping technology
and the central liquid cooling and heating system based on
it, how it operates and technical indexes. He also shared
the statistic figures of the operational cost of some typical
cases and analyzed the environmental and economical efficiency
of the system while introducing the support from China government
and the industry. |

Mr. Gong Yulie (Guangzhou Institute of Energy
Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences,China)gave a presentation
entitled Heat, Air Condition and Hot Water Co-Supply by Ground
Source Heat Pumps. He introduced the background of Ground
Source Heat Pump technology, basic concept and principal and
its development in the world. He discussed the technical indexes
of the Heat, Air Condition and Hot Water Co-Supply by Ground
Source Heat Pumps system and its characteristics. He also
analyzed its economical factors and market potential based
on an engineering case. |
