    Water and Thermal Energy Group

Prof. Edgar Schicker (Professor of Berlin University, University of Applied Sciences, Germany) presided the first half of Water and Thermal Energy Group.
Prof. Ladislaus Rybach (Managing Director of GEOWATT AG, Zurich/Switzerland Honorary Guest of the University of Zurich, Executive Committee Vice Chairman of International Energy Agency (IEA) Geothermal Implementing Agreement Switzerland)presided the second half of Water and Thermal Energy Group.

Prof. Tong Jiandong (Director, UNIDO-International Center on Small Hydropower, China) spoke on the Cost-effective Small Hydropower Electromechanical Technology. He explained the fast development of Small Hydro Power (SHP) in China and described the features of cost-effective SHP EM technology and the design and manufacturing of the EM products, as well as its application. Then he compared the technology with its counterparts in Europe and other region to conclude its advantages, while presented the achievements and intellectual property right of it. Finally he introduced the worldwide transfer and promotion of the Cost-Effective SHP EM Technology.

Mr. Sommer Frank IBS Sommer, Germany gave a presentation entitled Hydrodynamic Screws-a new type of energy generation based on one of the oldest technologies. He introduced the design of the Hydrodynamic Screw, compared it with traditional waterwheels and turbines in efficiency and availability, discussed its advantages, and analyzed its economic efficiency and profitability in application.
Mr. Ma Fuqiu (Science and Technology Dept., Harbin Engineering University, China) gave a presentation entitled Water Turbine Utilizing Tidal Current Energy. He reviewed HEU's study of the tidal current energy utilization and the " 70 kW Tidal current energy test power plant" completed in 2002. He said HEU is now carrying out the demonstration tests of the 40 kW trend power station in Zhoushan sea area of Zhejiang province.
Mr. Sun Ji (Ever Source Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd., China) gave a presentation entitled Ground Water Source Heat Pumps based on Single Well System. He introduced the ideology of this single well pumping technology and the central liquid cooling and heating system based on it, how it operates and technical indexes. He also shared the statistic figures of the operational cost of some typical cases and analyzed the environmental and economical efficiency of the system while introducing the support from China government and the industry.
Mr. Gong Yulie (Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, Chinese Academy of Sciences,China)gave a presentation entitled Heat, Air Condition and Hot Water Co-Supply by Ground Source Heat Pumps. He introduced the background of Ground Source Heat Pump technology, basic concept and principal and its development in the world. He discussed the technical indexes of the Heat, Air Condition and Hot Water Co-Supply by Ground Source Heat Pumps system and its characteristics. He also analyzed its economical factors and market potential based on an engineering case.
