Second Specialists Meeting on BlueSky Ranking Held in ITPC

ITPC hosted the second specialists meeting on China's renewable energy industry ranking - the "BlueSky Ranking" from 1st to 2nd September in Shenzhen. The purpose of the meeting is to choose the top ten finalists in each sub-category of new energy use, and draft the structure the report and the press conference at the 2007 China High Tech Fair in Shenzhen.
The Blue Sky Ranking is a project launched by IPTC, with collaboration from Guangzhou Institute of Energy CAS, China Renewable Energy Society and UNIDO-INSHP (International Network on Small Hydropower). Dr. Yu chaired the meeting and welcomed all the professionals and specialists from the four institutions. With all the hard work been done and unconditional support from each participator, the first stage of research work has now been completed, Dr. Yu says, while the focus of the next stage of work needs to be on to the content of the report and the design of an Internet voting system for the public to vote.
The delegates presented their work on the selection process of the final top ten contestants in each major category: solar energy, wind power, biomass energy and small hydropower. The meeting confirms the top ten lists as well as the index of criteria, which covers most of the aspects of the Chinese renewable energy industry.
In addition, all the delegates agreed that it is vital to further polish the rankings system and exchanged their opinions upon the upcoming report. According to the schedule and timeline, a draft of the report will be released at the end of this month while a final publication will be available to the pubic around mid-October.
